The bark of Lophira lanceolata (Ochnaceae) has been used traditionally for the treatment many disease conditions such as dysentery, headaches, diarrhoea, cough, abdominal pains, fungal infections, nociception and cardiovascular diseases. However, no specific work on its anti-inflammatory or antipyretic effect reported which forms basis this study. This study evaluates in-vivo activities aqueous extract stem using laboratory animal model. methods adopted were formalin induced inflammation yeast hyperpyrexia in rats. All results expressed mean ± S.E. data statistically analysed by one way analysis variance (ANOVA) followed Dunnett's multiple comparison p-values 0.05 considered significant. result showed a significant different from control (distilled water) at p characterized oedema formation, change temperature, redness, itching paw rats is comparable with standard indomethacin. inhibition was dose dependent group 4 received 400 mg/kg body weight demonstrated more than 1 100 lanceolata. highest effect.
